About GaVi

GaVi — named after my daughters Gaia and Vittoria — was born from a simple dream: to bring beautifully handcrafted Italian Friulane across the Atlantic.

This first chapter is told through Gaia — capturing the moments that inspired the brand from the very beginning, set against the backdrop of Rome.

Friulane are traditional Italian slippers with a history dating back to the 19th century in the Friuli region. Originally handcrafted by rural artisans, they were designed to be lightweight, versatile, and comfortable enough for all-day wear. Today, they are celebrated as a timeless symbol of understated Italian elegance. At GaVi, we honor this heritage by ensuring every pair is hand-stitched by skilled artisans using premium velvet and durable recycled rubber soles.

Friulane run true to size, but we recommend sizing up if you are between sizes. Please note that the velvet may feel slightly snug at first, but it will soften and mold to your foot with wear. A detailed size guide is available on each product page.

Yes. Designed for both outdoor and indoor wear, GaVi shoes feature durable rubber soles for everyday use outside, while remaining soft and comfortable enough to be worn at home.

o keep your Friulane looking their best, we recommend using a soft-bristled brush to remove any dry dust or dirt. For small spots, a slightly damp cloth can be used. Avoid wearing them in heavy rain to preserve the texture of the velvet.
